What: It’s my parents (aka Mr. and Mrs. Pneumonia)(See previous trip reports for the explanation on that one! Hah!) 50th wedding anniversary cruise! Why: So I finally got to do a Norway cruise this last summer! And I am FINALLY writing a trip report about it! (#sobehind) We had a lot happening in the summer of 2017, (hello, wedding (!)) so we didn’t make vacation plans until really late! Like two months before! After the summer and fall firmed up (a little), we bounced around some various plans and decided it was time to finally go to Norway! I had to cancel our first Norway cruise, so I was so excited to finally get a do-over! And spoiler alert – it did not disappoint!

What: My first venture into the Royal Caribbean waters!

Where: Anthem of the Seas out of New York City

Why: I’ve done training on all the cruise lines, but as we all know, nothing compares to being there. I’ve been trying to get on Royal Caribbean for a while, but every time I planned one, something else came up! But I was determined that 2017 would be the year!

Stephen had a work trip to Australia planned in March and I, of course, was going to go! I mean – Australia! But then we looked at his schedule and it just wasn’t realistic for me to go. But I wasn’t going to stay home!

So I started looking for a short cruise. I found a great price on a short cruise, and I emailed Kelly to see what she thought about the itinerary and whether it was too short to get the full experience. She wrote back with opinions and plans! She said we could do this, or that, etc. etc.

Then she texted me and said, “Uh, did I just invite myself on your cruise?” I laughed so hard! I said, “Kind of, but I didn’t want to go alone and didn’t know who would go! So it worked out for both of us!”

We looked at all different ships and itineraries and settled on a totally different one than I first thought! We were going to do the Anthem of the Seas out of New York City! Woohoo!

Why: Because I love to be first! There. I said it. I booked the first sailing on the Wonder as soon as I realized it was going into dry dock! Then I was lucky enough to be invited by Disney to a preview cruise to experience it. Lucky for me it was the cruise right after mine, so I got to do both!

Who: The first cruise was just Stephen and I at first, and then Tracey and Kelly booked! So we had an adult only cruise of sorts! Woot!

Stephen couldn’t stay for both, silly Air Force responsibilities, so my friend Debbie joined me for the second cruise!

What: A cruise on the newly redone Disney Dream! This originally started as an opportunity for Stephen and I to sail alone, and for him to finally get to try a concierge room! I had done it twice at this point (thanks, lols) and I really wanted him to! I wasn’t expecting much out of the dry dock, but when I booked, this happened to be one of the least expensive for a suite and it still had the room type I wanted.  It also meant I would be in Disney on my birthday!  Couldn’t pass that up!

When: October 25-30, 2016

When Disney announced everything they were doing, I about lost my mind. I checked my reservation no less than three times to make sure I was on the right one. I was!! And so excited!!! We were on the first sailing out of dry dock! I love being first!! And I tell you what, this cruise has me completely addicted to being first after dry docks. I currently have the first Wonder and first Fantasy booked after dry dock. That’s how I roll now.  

I was also tweeting for Touring Plans this cruise, which was super fun! Because of that, I took a TON of phone pics.  Stephen had my camera a lot the first day onboard.  There will be some camera and some phone pics throughout!

Who: Stephen, Tammy, and Ally of course!  And the Dad and The Pneumonia!  With a special guest appearance by my niece Erin!  When Chase couldn’t go L because of his summer internship, there was room for Erin to join in and keep Ally from going crazy from all of the parent/grandparent attention.
